I have a Cosco alpha omega car seat. What is the height limit for a rear facing child?
I need to know about when I'm supposed to turn my daughter around. I've studied car seats thouroughly so I know that the weight is 20 lbs., basicly I need someone with a alpha omega to look in the manual for me and find out what the height limit is. The weight actually says that it's 22 lbs. but her legs are bent right up and I'm worried that if we get in a car accident she'd be hurt worse than if I just turn her around. So, anyone with a manual, please help. I lost my manual. My daughter weighs just 20 lbs. and is like 29 and 1/2 inches tall.

- Infants should remain rear facing until they are both 1 year old and weigh 22 pounds. However, it is important to remember that all children grow at different rates. Your child may outgrow his infant seat before he is 1 year old. You must stop using the seat when the top of your child’s head comes within one inch of the top of the car seat. If this happens, you can move your child to a convertible seat that rear faces to 35 pounds or he may need to ride forward facing if he is over 1 year old.
- I have the same car seat for my daughter. I had it professionally inspected. They told me that the forward facing requirements are 20 lbs. AND 1 year of age. However, they recommend keeping your child rear facing for as long as possible. The rear facing limit for height is about 34 inches. I had the same fear as you because at the time my daughter was around 30 inches and her legs seemed cramped. I asked "wouldn't her legs get broken in an accident". They said it's better she suffers a broken leg than a neck injury. We ended up facing her forward when she was about 16 months old because she was about 32 inches and she started getting car sick. After facing her forward, she hasn't gotten sick. Sorry, I don't have the manual in front of me, but I hope this information at least helps. You could also try the ntsa.gov web-site. They do have car seat safety information on the site and rate many of the car seats on the market.
