Alpha

People who have the Cosco Alpha Omega Elite car seat?

i am looking into getting a new car seat for my daughter that will carry her into kindergarten for under $150 and i really like the alpha omega, but i wanted to know if anyone with this car seat has a smaller car and doesn't it safely fit. She will be rear facing for a few more months before being turned around. i have a Honda civic which is on the smaller scale, but i can alway put her behind the passenger seat or in the middle...?

Also i want to see what you think about the car seat in general and if there are any other car seats that you like better that have the same features.

Personal experiences please! Thank you so much!
I like the weight requirements cause it will carry her up to 100 pounds even though she will probably be out of it by then. i just want to know if it will fit in a smaller car.
it has a five point harness.... i just want to know if anyone has a small car with this seat! this seat has the best features for the price and is in the top five for safety ratings!

  1. looked at that one...but went with the Eddie bauer w in one. You really need to look at the weight ratings on teh seat. My son is only just turning 3 and is over 40lbs...basically too big for teh seat...but he's too young for a booster...
  2. Don't bother with this seat. Get a Fisher Price Safe Convertible Voyage Car Seat. It can hold your child in a five point harness untill they are 55 pounds. This car seat is also made by Britax and will run you about $150.00. You might want to take a look at the Sunshine Kids Car Seat line. They are pricey, but I think they can hold rear facing and forward facing until 70 or 80 pounds in a five point harness. Try to keep your child in a 5 point harness as long as possible.
  3. Don't waste your money on it. They are crappy seats! I own one and there was a recall put out on them last week due to the harness loosening. There are many things I hate about this seat: it may say that it goes to 100lbs but it only goes to 40lbs with a harness, the seat looks tall but you can't use the tallest height with the harness, therefore, it only has a top harness height of about 14.5 inches which is pretty low, it also makes a horrible booster seat. Another thing that really bugs me about this seat is the fact that it doesn't have a lot of energy absorbing foam, some models have none. They are also a little difficult to install rear-facing.

With that being said I can suggest some better seats in your price range:

Britax Marathon-these seats are on sale this week only for around $209. They have top slots of 17inches and go to 65lbs. They are also one of the few seats that can touch the front seats while rear-facing which comes in handy if you have a small back seat. http://www.babyage.com/Britax-Sale.htm, http://brands.babycatalog.com/Britax-convertible-car-seats.html

This website has the particular fabric choice marked down indefinitely: http://www.albeebaby.com/br20macocars14.html

Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe ($129)-this is a Britax seat with a Fisher Price name, therefore, a smaller price tag. It's essentially the same as a Marathon but only goes to 55lbs. Marathon covers also fit nicely on them.

Evenflo Triumph Advance ($129-$169)-this is a newer version of a regular Evenflo Triumph but has higher height and weight limits of 17inches and 50lbs. These can be found at Target, Wal-Mart and Babies R Us as well as online.
